Melt in your mouth cooked to order fish and chips. Unbeatable quality. I've eaten enough soggy, fatty, hard, greasy stuff all over the country to rate bloaters as one of the best.I work driving in Devon and have sampled fish and chip shops in most of the county towns (when it's cold you can't beat a bag of chips if you have to hang about) and Bloaters is premier League.
Fish and chips, cooked with talent. The fish has the lightest and least greasy batter I've ever eaten and portion size is excellent. The chips are not quite perfect for me, but that could be a seasonal thing. Parking is an issue, but there is a car park close by that I would recommend you use and walk from there. You could find it easily enough using Google maps as it's on the next street along on the same side as Bloaters. The staff did not seem very organised, having phoned the order in with a name, there was still confusion when it came to picking it up. The meal made up for it though.
Normally loverly but last time we had them the chips were hard.We got them later around 8 pm not our usual 6pm . Little disappointed asnormall y nice Maybe earlier is better freshly cooked
It would help if this fish and chip shop updated their web site with their closures. Despite the web site stating they were open, after driving a return trip of eight miles along narrow country roads, I arrived to find a hand written paper note in the window stating they were closed till 9th September - I'm not amused
Great food every time we have been, portion sizes are good and so the prices. Would recommend ringing ahead as just turning sometimes can mean quite a long wait, as it is the best fish and chips in sidmouth area. A pop up shop/stand in summer or better still another one closer to the seafront would be awesome but that's me just being lazy
